This species is widespread and common throughout mountainous regions of the western United States but is a very rare vagrant farther north into the southern interior of B.C. Unsubstantiated reports of this species in the province should be treated with caution due to its similarity to other hummingbird species, particularly Ruby-throated and Anna’s Hummingbirds.
